Este martes, se conocieron las nominaciones para los Premios de la Academia 2023. Los actores Riz Ahmed ("The Night of") y Allison Williams ("Girls") fueron los encargados de presentar los nominados a los Oscar.
Así, los finalistas en las 23 categorías se dieron a conocer en dos partes, a través de una transmisión en vivo en Oscar.com y Oscars.org, junto con las cuentas de redes sociales de la academia cinematográfica (Twitter, YouTube and Facebook).
“Everything Everywhere All at Once”, de Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheinert, ha logrado 11 candidaturas a los premios Oscar. Detrás han quedado “The Banshees of Inisherin”, de Martin McDonagh, y “All Quiet on the Western Front”, de Edward Berger, con nueve candidaturas; y "Elvis", de Baz Luhrrman, con ocho.
"Women Talking", la película basada en la ola de violaciones que se registró en la colonia menonita de Manitoba de Santa Cruz, en 2009, ha sido nominada a Mejor Película. La cinta dirigida por la canadiense Sarah Polley es una adaptación del libro homónimo de la escritora Miriam Toews, por lo que también postula al premio a Mejor Guion Adaptado. Cuenta entre sus protagonistas a Rooney Mara, Frances McDormand, Claire Foy y Jessie Buckley.
El apartado de Mejor Película incluye nueve rivales; "All Quiet on the Western Front", la apuesta de Netflix, “The Fabelmans”, “The Banshees of Inisherin”, "Tár", "Elvis", “Triangle of Sadness”, “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, y las sorprendentes “Top Gun: Maverick” y“Avatar: The Way of Water”, que además han logrado el favor del público.
"Argentina, 1985", de Santiago Mitre, está en la categoría a mejor película internacional por Argentina. El quinteto lo completan la belga "Close", de Lukas Dhont; la irlandesa "The Quiet Girl", de Colm Bairéad; la polaca "EO", de Jerzy Skolimowski, y la alemana “All Quiet on the Western Front”, de Edward Berger.
La entrega 95ª de los Premios de la Academia se llevará a cabo el 12 de marzo en el Dolby Theatre de Hollywood y será televisada en vivo por ABC. Será presentado, por tercera vez, por el cómico Jimmy Kimmel. Será la primera vez en los últimos cinco años en que los premios tengan a un único maestro de ceremonias. La Academia de cine de Hollywood ha experimentado con el formato de la gala ante la caída de la audiencia. El último presentador en solitario, en 2018, fue precisamente Kimmel, veterano cómico frente al late night de la ABC (la cadena que transmite los premios).
La edición del año pasado, que dejó como anécdota la bofetada de Will Smith al presentador Chris Rock antes de ganar el premio al mejor actor, atrajo a unos 15,4 millones de telespectadores.
